Mast repaint of Parsifal III completed (22 February 2012)

The Vilanova Grand Marina yard in Barcelona, Spain, has helped to successfully manage a consortium effort to repaint the mast of the 54m (177ft) Perini Navi sailing yacht Parsifal III.

The two-month project consisted of repainting her 65m (213ft) carbon fibre mast, mizzen and booms.

Vilanova’s team, THL Yacht Riggers and Majorca-based paint company Rolling Stock Finishing & Refinishing, carried out the work.

“We are very satisfied with the smooth running of the project and final results,” says Parsifal III’s captain, Glenn Shephard. “The overall experience has been excellent for the adequacy of the facilities, the effort and professionalism of all teams involved, and the constant help and support from Vilanova’s staff.” (Superyacht Business, 20 February 2012)

El proyecto ha sido realizado por Rolling Stock, THL Yacht Riggers y el equipo de Vilanova.
El varadero de Vilanova Grand Marina ha acogido recientemente al Parsifal III, el velero de Perini Navi de 54 metros de eslora, para el repintado de sus mástiles. El proyecto, que duró dos meses y finalizó en diciembre, consistió en el pintado del mástil mayor de fibra de carbono de 65 metros, la mesana y las botavaras, y fue realizado por el equipo de Vilanova, junto con THL Yacht Riggers y la compañía de pintura con base en Mallorca Rolling Stock Finishing & Refinishing.
El capitán del Parsifal III Glenn Shephard señala: “estamos muy satisfechos de cómo se ha desarrollado el proyecto y de los resultados finales. La experiencia en general ha sido excelente por la adecuación de las instalaciones, el esfuerzo y profesionalidad de todos los equipos implicados y por la ayuda y el apoyo constante por parte del equipo de Vilanova”. International insurance company Pantaenius has renewed a three year sponsorship agreement with the Superyacht Cup regatta in Palma. The agreement also includes sponsorship of the special Olympics edition of the Superyacht Cup Cowes, UK taking place from 22-25 July, a few days before the start of the London 2012 Olympics. Each regatta will feature a Pantaenius Race? with trophies awarded to each division.

For some time now we have spoken out against a form of taxation, unique to Spain, considered to be a grave injustice, not only for the yachting market but the country as a whole. The ISDMT or Special Tax on Certain Means of Transport, the so-called matriculation or registration tax, is equivalent to a 12% purchase tax on vessels over 8 metres with a seriously detrimental

Llevamos tiempo manifestando el grave perjuicio que, no tan sólo para el sector sino para todo el país, supone la existencia en España del Impuesto Especial sobre Determinados Medios de Transporte, el más que conocido “Impuesto de Matriculación”, que grava con un 12% la adquisición de un barco de más de 8 metros,frenando así la venta de embarcaciones de mayor eslora. Astilleros de Mallorca expands its activity in STP with a second new workshop at the Global Building to provide a larger mechanical and technical support.
ASTILLEROS DE MALLORCA has specialized in the refit and repair of yachts for more than 25 years. The new office and workshop in the Global Building has been fully equipped with new machinery such as a lathe, milling machine, hydraulic press, welding bench, hydraulic test bench etc. As a result, the Project Managers can provide their clients with a more rapid response inside the yard. The office, located next to the 700 T travel-lift in the centre of the yard area, makes it easier for Captains and crew to drop by to discuss their service needs.
